Default Troll Farming - Experience Exploitation

Alright, time for a new thread, my ettin farmin thread was a hit so here is a in depth thread into Troll farming. Lets start with a list of what you need for this build.

Note this is, of course, not the only build that works but I have come to like it.

You will need:
  • An axe that suites you.
  • Mods for your axe that I reccomend: Sundering/Firey/Zelous/Vampiric/Furious/Trollslaying : whatever floats your boat.
  • A level 20 M/mo that is a Droknars Forge.
  • A few skills that are easily obtained

Alright the build is:
  1. Cyclone Axe
  2. Executioners Strike
  3. Gladiators defense {Elite}
  4. Bonetti's defense
  5. Vigorous Spirit
  6. Healing Breeze
  7. Holy Veil
  8. Mending

Attributes: Axe: 12-13 | Healing 8 | Tactics: as high as possible because of Gladiators Defense

As far as skills that are tough to get: the only one is Gladiators Defense, which you capture from the Facet of strength, which is the 6th boss in the Dragons Lair mission. If you are ascended you will have this mission so its not a tough cap to find.

You start out by exiting out Droks forge to the North, there will be a group of Avicarra on your left, and usually 2-3 trolls on the hill above them, I usually slide up around the Avicarra and take those Trolls down as a warm up, also it will get your adrenaline up quickly.

Refer to the map below for guidance.

After getting around the Avicarra you are ready to get some crazy expiriance. A scroll of Advnturers insight will keep you getting +250% exp for 5 minutes. This gets you a ton of exp per troll.

You walk into the entrance to the Ice Cave and agro a group of trolls, there should be a gathering of around 12-18 here, depending on spawns. You use the build I gave you in logical order to take them all down at once, while swinging away to keep adrenaline up, you won't even have an energy problem because of bonetti's.

In terms of farming items, these level 24 guys do drop golds and purples semi-frequently as well, I would reccomend farming them from time to time for some solo-variety. There is another screen below that shows a rare, max, req 8 flatbow that dropped for me, a purple also dropped from that group. The longbow had a 20% enchanting mod which I salvaged. Not bad for 2 minutes worth of work.

After the first big group proceed west and then north in the cave to the rest of the trolls. You are obligated to kill all the trolls relatively fast to increase the expiriance on each scroll, don't want it to run out! After killing the last group with the Boss in it you zone back and start again.

This is a GREAT way to powerlevel a friend or clients character, you can charge about 2k a level, if the person is around level 13, they get about 2 levels the first run, and they buy the scrolls. So you get 4k, plus some drops and lots of expiriance. This gem should not be overlooked in tyria. It is a great place for solo fun, guild fun (because you can doit with a couple people if you want) and powerleveling profit. A great way to farm skill points as well.

Here is the map:

Here is the screen from the first group of trolls.

Thank you all for your time, PM me in game if you have any questions, other builds are welcome to be posted here as well. I may be starting a class on this soon with more in depth info, depending on demand.

My guild is looking for mature, high level, active members, if you like this thread and my others, p.m. me in game, we can talk.

The best of luck to all of you in farming trolls, weather it be for drops, expiriance, or fun. Remeber, games are here for fun, thats the point of playing. Try and have fun

Yea back up for avicarra, I figured someone would call me on that. You don't really need other skills, you could just use another skill for damage I suppose though. Sometimes I fight the avicarra though.

There's a perfect spawn with no avicara, just go back into Drok's and back out if they're in the way

My old build. The drops there are pretty bad compared to other places.
But if you like me and want to make a w/every class this is the place for exp. Throw on the 3x exp scroll and get a skill point ever 2-3 runs (6-11 minutes per skill point)

W/E
Gladiator stance
Bonetti
armor of earth
crystal wave
aftershock
healing sig
sprint
cyclone axe or to the limit if using sword

16 tactic
12 earth
rest in strength for sprint

Here's the build I use

Gladiator's Defense
Bonetti's Defense
Riposte
Deadly Riposte
Distracting Blow (Mostly for the Ranger boss)
Sprint
Healing Sig
Dolyak Sig

This works great for me as I'm almost never interrupted (unless Im not paying attention) and the trolls go down pretty fast.
my attributes are
Strength 11 (10+1)
Tactics 15 (11+3+1)
Sword 11 (10+1)

Heres my sword build that i use to farm these beasts:

Deadly Riposte
Watch Yourself
Bonetties Defence
Defensive Stance
Gladiators defense {Elite}
Healing Breeze
Mending
Vigourus Spirit

Attributes
Sword:12 (no rune)
Tactics: 12 (11+1)
Strength 4 (2+2)
Healing 8

Stragedy: As soon as you get out of droks cast mending then run up to the cave or whatever, duh ^_^ then cast Vig Spirit right before battle, throw on glads too, and even cast breeze if you want then throw riposte, the goal of this build is just to stay alive to throw on Glads again so you can throw riposte and rethrow your enchants, defensive stance is an emergiancy stance when you cant throw bonetties... its not fast but it works

Remember, dont feed the trolls, farm them

I use this build

W/Mo

Atts:
Axe Mastery: 9
Smiting Prayers: 11
Healing Prayers: 8
Strength: 10

Weapons:

Sundering Cleaver of Enchanting
Slashing Damage 6-28 (req. 9 Axe Mastery)
Damage +15% (while health is above 50%)
Enchantments Last 20% Longer
Armor Penetration +10% (Chance: 10%)

Thorgall's Shield
Armor: 16 (req. 9 Strength)
Received Damage -2 (while enchanted)
Reduces Weakness duration on you by 20%

My Skills:

Cyclone Axe
Bonetti's Defense
Healing Breeze
Shield Of Judgement
Dolyak Signet
Vigirous Spirit
Live Vicariously
Mending

While you may not recieve as many gold as farming griffons, the chests are seen here more often than in the desert and usually contain better items. Also raven staffs give an enormous amount of wood when salvaged. Usually get around 1000 wood every 2 hours. So that's about 10k every two hours selling wood, plus whatever other drops you may recieve.

In any case, Shield of Judgement is 10 times better than Glad's Defense. It lasts longer whilch means you dont have to constantly keep up with it. And it does more damage. Using a strength shield allows you to cranks up the dolyak, which you normally can't do if you're using a bunch of tactics. w00t

Are you nuts? Selling wood

Turn that stuff into parchment and sell the parchment. Unless I am missing something this is still more profit than dumping wood.

I tried out Don't Feel No Pain's Build for axe and it worked like a charm

Edit: and killing only the trolls in the cave I went from 33 to 55% of my next level without a scroll. Killing stuff in the cave 58% (I had to kill some trolls blocking my path) to 18% on the next skill point. All that with a scroll of slayers insight

I still prefer SOJ :P

While parchment is worth more money, there are lots of parchment sellers and not many wood sellers, so i can take 4000 wood into forge and sell it all with five minutes for 10 each. Parchment takes forever to sell and noone wants more than 200, while parchment sellers will buy thousands of wood in bulk. Less money, but takes less time= more time to farm.

Ok I dont' get the attribute points lay out.......... Is it your main damage is in crystal wave and aftershock? If so, why not take out crystal wave and put in whirlwind to combo in with aftershock, and then a zealous haft on ur axe (cyclone axe for energy)

OH NOW I GET IT! Points in strength so you'll be penetrating the armor and there's your weapon damage! Sry noob warrior over here im more of an elementalist and ranger.........But I wonder about the changes I suggested.....Did they help?
